Affirmations and How to Use Them

Affirmations are positive statements that we say to increase positive thinking and outcomes. They’re a major tool in the self-love world because thought precedes actions. Part of manifesting something is being able to affirm that it will happen. This puts positive energy out into the universe so it can meet you once you physically arrive.

Without delving too deeply, affirmations can simply help us step into a more positive frame of mind. You can say affirmations at any point in the day, depending on what you need to affirm, but it always helps to start your morning off with some positive statements.

Think of the what you want to achieve by saying the affirmation.

You can start with “I am” and follow with a statement in the present tense to get yourself accustomed to the structure.

Ie. I am worthy of love.

Take a deep breath and say your affirmation to yourself or out loud. You want to say your affirmation in a strong voice to show you really believe in what is being said.

Repeat the affirmation 3-5 times.

As you learn to come up with your own affirmations, make sure to keep them brief and specific.

More examples …

  • I am enough, I have enough, I do enough.

  • I believe in myself, my strengths and my abilities.

  • I give myself permission to do what is right for me.

  • I create boundaries for myself and hold others accountable.

  • I eat well, exercise regularly and get plenty of rest to enjoy good health.

  • I learn from my mistakes.

  • I know I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.

  • I forgive myself for my imperfections as I know no one is perfect.

It’s also a powerful practice to write out your affirmations since writing is a powerful tool in manifesting.
